Aged Care Services & Funding

Perfect Fit Pedorthics are an approved prescriber for the Aged-Care Support at Home (SAH) Program and work with Home Care Packages (HCP).

  • Assessments: They provide clinical reports to show how specialised footwear improves independence and safety, which is often required for funding approval.
  • Customisation: Services include onsite modifications by a certified Pedorthic Retailer with over 30 years of experience.

Specialised Footwear Features

The footwear provided focuses on stability, pain relief, and fall prevention:

  • Extra Depth & Width: Accommodates swelling (edema), bunions, hammertoes, and orthotic inserts.
  • Closure Systems: Uses adjustable Velcro straps for an ideal fit, especially for those with limited dexterity or fluctuating foot size.
  • Stability & Safety: Includes firm heel counters for rear-foot control and rocker soles to assist with walking gait and reduce joint pressure.

Footwear Modifications

Perfect Fit Pedorthics can modify both new and existing shoes to address specific clinical needs:

  • Shoe Raises: Corrects leg length discrepancies (LLD) to reduce hip and back pain.
  • Flares & Wedges: Added to the sole for increased stability and balance.
  • Pressure Off-loading: Modifying the sole to relieve pressure from painful areas or ulcers.

The Consultation Process

To access medical-grade footwear (MGF), Perfect Fit Pedorthics follows a structured clinical pathway:

  1. Initial Contact: Gathering medical history and contact details via phone or in-person.
  2. Service Agreement: Formalising the intent to progress to an Assistive Technology (AT) Assessment, which is required for many funding bodies.
  3. Liaison: Working directly with your existing Allied Health team (e.g., Podiatrists or Occupational Therapists) to ensure the footwear complements your current treatment plan.
  4. Reporting: Providing a detailed clinical report that justifies the need for MGF, typically focusing on safety, independence, and long-term health benefits.
